Tougher New Super Mario Bros. 2

Tougher New Super Mario Bros. 2 is a mod for  New Super Mario Bros. 2 that makes the game harder by adding more obstables. it primarily changes levels: 1-1, 1-2, 1-3 and 1-tower. so the mod changes a existing levels and adds stuff like enemies, changes star coins location, changes level terrain and more. i made a nsmb2 mod - itch.io

this mod is not for faint of heart, the mod requires a nsmb2 rom, some str coins are impossible to get, the instructions are not very original and  prepare for some challenge

1.1.0 update changes levels like 1-4, 1-5, 1-A and 1-castle. 1-4 has a intermediate chance to crash so save once you have done beating that.

1-4 adds a lot more paratroopas, so many that the game has a potential to crash. it also changes terrain and even adds new bit of custom level. of course with inconsistent music

1-5 adds a lot of cheep cheeps. and terrain changes too.

1-A adds fire bros and amps. it also changes terrain and star locations.

1-castle adds more enemies and more.

each level adds more enemies, changes terrain and has inconsistent music

1.2.0 beta is unfinished but because i do not want to update anymore. this might be the last update.

so 1.2.0 beta affects: 1-cannon, 2-1, mushroom-1, mushroom-2 and unrelated to the mod but acidently also flower-1 because i confuse blume with pilz

1-cannon makes level much longer with a lot more enemies

2-1 changes music, makes camera bigger and the level much bigger and star coins harder to reach and changes its underground and changes music to beach theme

mushroom-1 primarily removes floor, moves some enemies, makes 1/3 of the star coins impossible and music changed to underground lava

mushroom-2 adds a lot more spiky balls, adds a unused part of area 1 and makes it part of star coin 1 and changes music to underwater and makes camera move more

note: i changed other levels but i wont talk about them

and also i added custom music to title screen, world 1, 2, 3 and mushroom with 3 custom music
